At some point, I found a list of 100-200 words that a US navy professor had compiled. The objective was that anyone knowing these basic words in English would be able to have a basic conversation. I then used excel to create links to google translate where you can practice the word by getting google to say it in the native language. This also made my wife happy as she was getting bored repeating the same word 10 times just so that I could hear how it was pronounced 🙂
