Before I used a plugin called heatsense by Stuart Wider. Now it seems it’s best to start with the WPCode plugin. I struggled with that though and eventually went with ad inserter. This website seemed to offer the best advice: https://ultida.com/how-to-insert-ads-within-your-wordpress-content/.
